Discovering Sustainability through Public Art
Since 2007, No.9 has brought more than 40 public art programs and installations to schools and communities in Canada.
No.9 uses art and design to bring awareness to environmental concerns. We deliver programs in schools and exhibitions in the public domain designed to encourage creative thinking to resolve environmental issues and to promote a sustainable lifestyle.
Thinking creatively to address our most urgent sustainability challenges.
Public Art for Change provides the best Canadian and international artists with a highly visible platform for their ideas; to make their work accessible to the widest possible audience by installing it in public space and by involving different communities each time; and to provide extensive education around each project, so that our audiences learn about the artists, their work, the environmental issues they explore, and the value of creative thinking in dealing with real problems.
Public Art for Change builds on No.9’s rich history of fostering awareness of current ecological and social concerns through contemporary art and design.
Public Art for Change is collaborative and experimental and takes an agile approach to engaging the public. The program aims to continually strengthen and expand relationships with artists, community, and partner organizations.
